HR HEAVY RIGID TRUCK LICENCE

HR – Heavy Rigid vehicle truck licence is the highest class of truck licence you can obtain from from a class C or LR – Light Rigid licence. You must hold a minimum of second year of green P’s class C licence or higher to obtain this licence.

You need a HR – Heavy Rigid licence to work in the mines. We are RMS accredited to get you on your way to your new career.

THE COURSE

THIS COURSE CAN BE CONDUCTED IN A VEHICLE SUPPLIED BY THE APPLICANT.

Designed for drivers who wish to upgrade from either a  class C, LR – Light Rigid Licence or MR – Medium Rigid class licence. Participants develop the necessary skills, knowledge and attitude to obtain a HR – Heavy Rigid heavy vehicle truck licence with a constant mesh (Road Ranger) or automatic transmission, through competency based assessment (CBA) with experienced trainers accredited by the RMS.

RMS Requirements

Upgrading from a P2 licence​

Provisional P2 licence holders who also hold a Class LR – Light Rigid, MR – Medium Rigid or HR – Heavy Rigid heavy vehicle truck licence will remain a provisional licence holder until they have held the P2 licence for a minimum of 2 years. There is no variation to this rule and an unrestricted licence will not be issued until the applicant complies with the requirements of the Graduated Licensing Scheme.

Assessment

This is a NSW RMS approved heavy vehicle truck licence course. Drivers will be trained and assessed against the RMS competency standards by our RMS accredited assessors. After the required standard of competency has been achieved the RMS will issue the appropriate licence.

Duration of course

The competency based assessment runs for a minimum of 5 hours for automatic and synchromesh gearbox and 6 hours for constant mesh (Road Ranger) gearbox as per RMS requirements. Most trainees will complete the training in approximately 8 – 15 hours, depending on prior experience and how well the trainee applies the set requirements.
