MC MULTI COMBINATION TRUCK LICENCE
MC – Multi Combination heavy vehicle truck licence is a prime mover, low loader dolly and low loader trailer combinations towing more than one trailer. You must have held a HR – Heavy Rigid or HC – Heavy Combination licence for at least 12 months to be eligible.

You need a HR – Heavy Rigid licence to work in the mines. We are RMS accredited to get you on your way to your new career.
THE COURSE
This course can be conducted in a vehicle supplied by the applicant.
Designed for drivers who wish to upgrade from either a HR – Heavy Rigid or HC – Heavy Combination licence. If you are upgrading from a HR – Heavy Rigid you will need to complete all HC assessments which are part of the HR – MC two day course before you undertake the MC assessments. Participants develop the necessary skills, knowledge and attitude to obtain a MC – Multi Combination heavy vehicle truck licence with a Constant Mesh (road ranger) or automatic transmission, through competency based assessment (CBA) with experienced trainers accredited by the RMS.
RMS Requirements
- Participants must either hold a current HR - Heavy Rigid and have held that licence for a minimum of twelve months, or a current HC - Heavy Combination.
- Be proficient in the use of an automatic or manual transmission.
- Participants must have completed the MC - Multi Combination knowledge test and obtained a CBA learner logbook and guide book.
- Participants must pass a medical examination.
- The CBA guide book must have been read before starting the course.
- Applicants holding a class HR - Heavy Rigid licence are required to pass a class HC - Heavy Combination licence assessment before undertaking MC - Multi Combination training.
- A person who holds a provisional P1 or P2 licence is not eligible for a MC - Multi Combination.
Upgrading from a P1 or P2 licence
Provisional P1 or P2 licence holders are NOT eligible to upgrade to a HC – Heavy Combination until you hold a minimum of a full class HR – Heavy Rigid heavy vehicle truck licence for a minimum of 12 months.

Assessment
Duration of course
- 1 Day - Recommended for drivers within the transport industry who have an acceptable knowledge of operating HC - Heavy Combination vehicle.
- 2 Day - For drivers applying from a HR - Heavy Rigid or for drivers with limited knowlege of operating a HC - Heavy Combination vehicle.
- Most trainees with a HC - Heavy Combination licence will complete the training in approximately 10 hours, and trainees applying from a HR - Heavy Rigid will complete the training in approximately 16 hours depending on prior experience and skills and how well the trainee applies the set requirements.
